Shelley Pilkington

Director

Since 2010, Shelley Pilkington has worked with outstandingly successful, award winning real estate professionals all over New Zealand to write and design effective real estate marketing content.

In the process, she has learned that the secret to creating a continuous flow of new listing opportunities has nothing to do with luck, but everything to do with frequency and consistency – being there, in someone’s letterbox, inbox or Facebook feed, monthly, fortnightly, weekly, even before they start planning to sell.

Originally a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Shelley re-trained after starting a family. While working for a top performing real estate professional she spotted a gap in the market for a New Zealand-based marketing communications company specialising in real estate. Open Door Marketing (previously known as Downright Brilliant) began.

Outside of work, Shelley enjoys time with her husband and three children. She especially enjoys combining family time with her love for the New Zealand bush, birds and nature. As a founding member of a successful community development project, she is still very much involved with volunteering in her community, and has a not-so-secret love for politics.

Open Door Marketing fills this gap by providing the members only, Personal Promotion Powerhouse website – “your personal real estate marketing system where all the planning, writing, design, print and delivery is done for you”.

As well as marketing plans, strategy and advice, the website contains catalogues of newsletters, DLE cards, appraisal letters and more. When a client orders a product it is personalised with the client’s own colours, branding and property photos ready for approval prior to printing and delivery (if required). Clients are allocated exclusive distribution areas and new content is released monthly.

Outside of work, Shelley enjoys time with her husband and three children. She especially enjoys combining family time with her love for the New Zealand bush, birds and nature. As a founding member of a successful community development project she still volunteers as Chairperson for the Governance Board. (And did I mention a secret love for politics?)

Rachel Miller

Production Manager

Rach is the master of efficiency and oversees the production of client real estate marketing materials. Having previously worked as a personal assistant to a top performing real estate agent, Rach fully understands the crazy juggle required to manage vendors, buyers, advertising deadlines, printers and the all-important family-life, all the while keeping the propsecting pipeline full of potential new listings.

If you’re chatting to Rach over the phone, don’t be surprised if you hear her super-friendly but slightly attention-deficit fox-terrier cross, Quinn, leaping with excitement in the background – he thinks phone calls mean playtime. (All adoption offers seriously considered.)
